I AM EQUAL :: SPONSORS

SONY

We must take a moment to recognize SONY as a great partner for the ‘I AM EQUAL’ Photo Documentary. From early on, their team has been committed to supporting the vision and outreach of this project and making sure that Matt Spencer has the very best equipment to capture the hundreds of thousands of photos that will ultimately make up the record-breaking documentary project.

Working with the team at the SONY ARTISAN project, Matt decided to use their latest professional grade a900 camera and Carl Zeiss lenses to document the passion, power, and energy of each individual taking part in this historic project to ensure spectacular detail and consistent results across 175 different cities, venues, and shooting environments.

This technology partnership has allowed the ‘I AM EQUAL’ Photo Documentary project to visit more locations and operate in a wider range of venues while still maintaining the same iconic style and high quality of the original project photos that were shot on Matt’s Hasselblad camera.

While it’s hard for many people to believe, of all the cameras Matt has to choose from in his collection, he almost always uses his SONY equipment for his professional work and exclusively uses the a900 for this photo documentary project.

“Sony is underrated in the professional photography world, but that doesn’t stop me from using what I consider to be the best equipment for almost everything I do,” says Spencer of his unorthodox choice to use Sony equipment. “There are very few instances where my Sony equipment doesn’t quite capture everything I want. In those instances I end up using my $40,000 camera because it’s the only thing that does better than the Sony in that instance – and since I got my hands on the a900, I’m switching over less and less.”

It’s important that we acknowledge the generous support of SONY and the Artisan program in providing the technology to capture the ‘I AM EQUAL’ Photo Documentary project. Their vision and the commitment of people like Kayla are helping to bring this important campaign to all corners of the world and ensuring that we have the absolute best technology available to make history.

So, for everyone who has been asking, Matt Spencer’s camera of choice is the Sony a900 and the ‘I AM EQUAL’ Photo Documentary is shot EXCLUSIVELY with SONY equipment and Carl Zeiss lenses.

Follow Matt’s example and show your support for this great partner by making your next digital camera a SONY camera.

I live with my parents and I’m 29 years old. Salt lake city is my hometown and I have three pugs.

I have downs syndrome. Sometimes people been teasing me cause I look different. I went to many schools. I was vulnerable and it would make people want to tease me when I was in school. One time a boy spitted on me on my glasses. Another time a girl pinched me hard on the shoulder and it hurt. And other students would call me slow. And when people do these things it kind of makes me a little sad and hurt.

I love my family and they are precious to me. I like to go to the movies with my brothers and listen to my favorite singer Taylor Hicks. I’m happy...  » READ MORE «
